Maybe it was a nice prediction by myself since I put the Slijpwijven disc on my post from yesterday , but hey : they were strong ! And so they will go down in history as the first winners of an official BWUIC ! History was made !
A very intense and nice final against the courageous and also very strong Gentle ladies ended in favour of the ladies from Aalter (13-8).
Some nice grabs , passes , blocks and catches were seen and the audience loved it ! 
And although during the final there was a lot of noise for Aalter and just a little bit less for Gentle (since we -Gentle- were a bit outnumbered by the Trancheuzen and male Slijpschijven players...) the prize for the best supporters went to the Diabolic Heaven crew.
These guys brought their own drum and a big banner to support their own girls (who had some extra players from Freespect and Schijnwerpers..). Supporting like it should be !
A short report for all of you to know what went down today...
It was history in the making , but not as unpreceded/new as thought before.
Huh ? Well : I asked Patricia (Mooncatchers , who has been playing ultimate for over 25 years) and her answer was that this was not so very historically !
She explained to me that back in the eighties (yes the 80's , you know "it was acceptable in the eighties") there were a few teams in Belgium who had a lot of women and that they regularly played eachother...but not on an official level of any kind...and that this kind of 'died' in the nineties..
So it is possible to have womens ultimate , and now it has been proven again.
This might be a nice step forward in an evolution that's everlasting ; but a lot of work and progress will still have to be done.
When I asked Pat what she thought about all of this she said "C'était très chouette !" , and told me that this was a very nice beginning. She thinks it is important to have this next to open and coed/mixed ultimate. "It's nice for ladies to have more disc contact ánd feeling with the other players. Haven't you seen the smiles on everybody's faces today ?"
Other facts of today's BWUIC : Bronze medal goes to Jetset , 4th place Moon , and the ever-important Spirit of the Game was won by Trancheuzen , also from Aalter !!
They got a very nice apple cake ! Much better than a cup/medal you can't do anything with ...
