Women's Ultimate back in the days....The real story !

Okay , here's the real deal : Back in the eighties there was much more womens ultimate than we've ever seen before. Patricia (playing since 1979-1980) sent me some more info :

In short , and in English of course : In the 80's in Belgium as in the rest of Europe there were lots of official women championships and tournament divisions. This kind of faded in the 90's because there were less female players so those who were there had to join there open team to go and play coed/mixed.Since a year or 10 women's ultimate has been growing again. This may seem like something new , but it's just it's absence that was abnormal !

Check out the picture below , recognize anybody ?

Patricia (in front) with a USA-based team called Melting Pot playing and winning 1983 WUC (Gothenburg, Sweden).
The story , as briefly told by Ollivier , goes that Pat was picked up by this team while they were passing in Namur , Belgium on their way to Sweden...Pat can you certify this story?

Another interesting picture (sent to me by Guido , erevuurzittere in Freezzzbeezzz ; merci!) shows the female Freezzzbeezzz and their coach Jan Loontiens (stichtend Vuurzittere / founding president at Freezzzbeezzz) also somewhere in the middle of the 80's. Kind of like the Boobeezzz avant la lettre !

I don't recognize any of the other girls on this photo , but hey , who needs names if you have shorts like that !!!

Well , women's ultimate is on a rise again. Not to mention ultimate in general !
A little advice to everybody : talk about the difference in open/women/coed ultimate.
Talk about where you want your team to go.What priorities you make as a team , as players , be it for championships, tournaments or even practices..
Communication is important.Equality is too.Never lose the basic joy of play.
