Stu Bru's action to collect money to fight the malaria-disease already found it's end a small week ago, but here's a little video made by Tim of 3 Gentle players (Loes,Lieven and myself) donating the money live on the radio.. You might have heard Lieven and Loes on the radio on wednesday night (I was only there to drop off the money...)
If you couldn't hear it in this little movie, here's the number : we collected 1700€ !
We sold some pins (still available by the way!), had a little game that involved throwing a disc through 3 rings (record holders Thomas 'Bruce' Vertongen and Korneel 'Morlie' Morlion) and had a big auction to sell an official Gentle shirt signed by many famous people like Siska,Sam&Sofie (who were in the glass house) ... The shirt brought us an amazing 980€ and was donated to our coach Morlie.
By the way, Music For Life collected 3.649.595 € !!! Amazing !

No, actually that's not true, I'll do everything I can to try to get my team Gentle to win this. That's a bigger and better objective.

It's christmas time, instead of reading this, go to your beloved partner or your best friend or your parents and celebrate life.
I'm having some huge difficulties posting lately(difficulties= busy times, busy job, NO HOUSE) but all of that's about to change.

BUIC Canceled......
Check out a picture from my parent's backyard in Brugge, only a 10minutes drive away from Oostkamp, where we were supposed to have the second day of BUIC (Belgian Ultimate Indoor Championship) today..
Too bad, too bad...
But understandable if you consider teams like Diabolic Heaven and Freespect having to drive from hasselt and Mechelen to Brugge....

We decided to cancel all the games for the BUIC today, because of the snowy weather and the traffic problems...
It is not possible to organise an extra game day anymore. This means that there will be 3 competition days in stead of 4. For division 1: 3 playoff-tickets, and 2 extra teams based on the ranking at the end of day 3.

In The Mood For Some DVD's...
I should try and get my hands on some of the most amazing ultimate dvd's out there...
I'm really in the mood for watching some high level ultimate but not on my computer screen.
It's quite easy to find clips and films on www.ultivillage.com and simply youtube but putting a dvd in your dvd player and knowing that you'll get to see about 100 minutes of high level ultimate is just more appealing..
Anybody has some dvd's they wanna share ? Or anybody wanna pay a part of the costs on ordering something online ?
PS: actually I'm more in the mood to play. Damn. Winter hasn't officially started and I'm already longing for the outdoor season to start. I've got a good feeling about this year and I loved last year..(although it could have been better).

Nothing Is Impossible...
Okay, this may be football/soccer but still.... Damn, so amazing.
It shows us as sports players to never give up and fight until the time is over...
And if you don't know what this is about; here's a little info : the score was 0-1 in Standard versus AZ ; if Standard won one point they would go on to the next round in the Europa League, if they lost they would have been out of the race and most importantly the goalie (Sinan Bolat) scored in the 94th minute !!!!!
It shows us as sports players to never give up and fight until the time is over...

Tips&Tricks V - Random Ultimate Thoughts
TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM
"The act of someone willingly making a sacrafice for the benefit of others."
Well, there you have my thoughts on last night's practice.
I was in the middle of a horizontal stack, cutting towards the disc that was on the other side of the field with one of my teammate-handlers, and I knew I was about to get switched on.
So, running towards the disc and you see somebody else's defender looking at you and making a move, normally you would stop because you know you won't get the disc.
Well there's the point of sacrifice.
I knew I wasn't getting the disc but still I ran through to get it, my defender was behind me, the other defender came to switch on me; and it took my primary defender a split second to realise he had to defend on somebody else and so there was an open player who received the disc.
Nothing much important to say here, just spreading my thoughts on how sometimes it's really important to make a cut even though you know you won't get the disc.
That's what we call making space.
Or even better :

Willy & De Schellekes @ Paga '09
"The Juniors Division
Another growing division and the champions Flugsaurier (“The Flying Dinosaurs”) from Austria won their second straight title, credited, they said to not partying too late Sunday night (!). Next year the majority of the Flugsaurier players will graduate from the juniors division and thus move into the ranks of the Open teams where they will follow former Juniors success stories Tailspin and Super Mannschaft.

In the finals Flugsaurier easily won a repeat match over Belgium’s Willy & de Schellekes, hampered by a very short roster that had to withstand a full tournament of nine games.
Willy and the crew nonetheless pulled in the Spirit Award showing that a top team with only a few people can play both strong and spirited ultimate.
So will Willy take the crown in 2010 when Flugsaurier moves up? I guess you’ll just have to show up and find out for yourself. "
