A short report on second division written by Sigi, coach and player of Diabolic Heaven, who won the final in second division and advance to the first division !
BUOC division 2 weekend 1
Division 2 and 3 played in Gent at the nice site of the Blaarmeersen. It’s allways a pleasure playing Ultimate there!
In division 2, 8 teams competed in 2 groups of 4 teams. First team of every group went directly to semi’s, number 2 and 3 played a crossgame for the other 2 spots in the semi’s. Most of the games were pretty equal and in general the level of all teams was higher than last year.
The teams of group A: Diabolic Heaven, Mooncatchers 2, ULB and Freespect. Group B consisted of Gentle 2, Frisbeeteam Helchteren, Pixel and Gentle 3.
After some hard fought games DH won group A and Gentle 2 did the same thing in group B.
The semi finals on Sunday went between Pixel vs DH and Gentle2 vs Mooncatchers 2.
With a 15-10 win over Pixel, DH was in the final. Gentle beat Moon with a 13-9 score (I think).
In the final, DH (with some ‘fresh’ players who only played on Sunday) had a majority in numbers and after 2 days of Ultimate that is an advantage. Diabolic took the lead and stayed focussed, making few mistakes. The weather circumstances didn’t allow Gentle to play their favorite (and very effective!!) zone D. In this spirited final it was Diabolic Heaven who took home the victory and thereby the promotion to Div I
In Division 3 all teams (Zeppelins, Propellers, Skywalkers, Frisbier, Gentle 4 and Gentle 5) played round robin. Don’t know much about results or games there but it was great to see many new players (and their coaches doing a great job) great spirit and lots of enthousiasm.
