There's much more to a game than assists and goals but still cool to see that there are 3 belgians in top 7 of mixed stats at U23 Worlds.
Did I mention these belgians were also runners-up in the spirit points ?
Yeah Belgium !

You've Never Seen Ultimate Like This Before.
Filmed by a mini helicopter hovering over the field in Slava Stadium in Prahue with over 4000 spectators watching this game live.
Amazing footage, I really like this style of filming.
Might be very useful to see the tactics and how these players at the best level in the world play the game.
Cool.
Props for whoever came up with this !

Belgium Mixed Team wins SILVER Medal @ U23 Worlds
As the title says, the belgian U23 mixed team wins an amazing silver medal at the World Under23 Championships in Firenze, Italy !!!!!!!! The final against champions Great Britain ended with 17-11.
Needless to say that this is one hell of a phenomenal prestation, even though you might say they didn't bring home the gold.
History has been written and this proves that there is a lot of potential running around in our small country.
Let's keep on supporting this and equally as important : let's be proud of this amazing achievement !!!!!
Nice work boys and girls, I am looking forward to hearing all your stories (and posting them right here)
Yeah Belgium !

Get Horizontal Video @ Worlds (Amazing Catch!)
Check out this video of an amazing layout by Andrew Fleming of Sockeye in the quarter final at WUCC2010 against Ironside.
I was lucky enough to witness this live from the huge audience in the Sparta Praha stadion and that is exactly why I wanted to go to worlds (amongst other reasons of course...)
Amazing.
Damn.
PS I should be able to get the blogging up and running again in the next few days.

World Ultimate Club Championships 2010 - A Little Impression
2010 will be saved in my memory as the year I went to Worlds with Mooncatchers.
Normally one of our biggest opponents, definitely while battling them with my hometeam Gentle for the belgian championship, but in fact a bunch of friends I always enjoy playing with and against. This was also the case in Prague last week.
I got out my best french, put on a classy new Mooncatchers shirt (in which I was actually quite proud to play) and gave it my best shot.
It was a pleasure to be part of the Mooncatchers in the adventure called Worlds.
An adventure like none I've ever experienced before, a tourney like none I've ever seen before.
136 teams, 3000 players, 37 nations, all there playing the same game we all love, on the highest level possible.
This championship was one of many faces :
It's getting to see the world's best teams face eachother in real life (unlike all those youtube films I've been checking the last few years); it's getting to play games against Canadians,Chinese,Australians,Colombians (like Moon all played against); it's playing your favourite game 6 days in a row and watching even bigger games on the seventh day; it's seeing players and teams from all over the world; it's playing in a stadium you never imagined yourself playing ultimate in; it's getting to know your body and how it reacts after a few days of 100minute games; it's a holiday on it's own and spending more than a week with your teammates talking about strategies, team dynamics and so much more ; it's learning by taking in information by watching other teams; it's supporting the football world cup with a bunch of Uruguayans in the same bar; it's an experience to see what your team is worth, because at Worlds you get to see everything in perspective...
It's so much, and I am glad to have seen it.
I would recommend a World Championship to any ultimate player out there.
Next time you have a chance to go, take it, because it will be worth it.
I've seen a completely different game than the one I've been used to and I would love to see a lot more.
Loads of pictures and some video footage coming after the Redemption tournament in Venice to which I'm leaving in about half an hour.
Another big thanks to Moon for hosting me.
Cheerios
PS: since I am actually hurrying right now, check out the website for all results (yeah Revolver !) and pictures at http://www.wucc2010.com/

A Brave New World @ Worlds
This is amazing.
Its a brave new world out here at the World Ultimate Club Championships in Praha, Czech Republic.
I`ve never seen so much ultimate players together and neither has anyone else because rumour says that this is the biggest ultimate event the planet has ever seen, and I`m so proud to be a part of it !
It`s nothing like anything I`ve ever seen and the good thing about it is I get to stay and play here another few more days...
The level is huge and we`ve already seen some monstrous games and the best is yet to come.
Mooncatchers, seeded 34th out of 48 are doing the best we can and it`s more than fun to play with them.
It`s a whole different style but this change will do me good.
For the moment being in fact we are at a 50% winning rate !!!! The first game seemed more like a frisbee lesson by Colony from Australia, seeded 7th, while we couldn`t find our game and had no flow at all and countless drops and errors... We got ourselves together and played a massive game against Phoenix, seeded 14th, and showed them how the hammer/upside works until about 10-10 when they got really frustrated about it and changed the whole defense system and took the game to 11-17. The second day we were out for our first victory and had to play against our Dublin friends. After a really intense game, where we took first half to about 8-6, they came back and almost took us out with 8-11 but then again we made a comeback and fought our way to universe point at 14-14. After countless turnovers and endzone drops somebody decided to make an end to it and threw a hard blade in the endzone to be caught by Benoit Le Long if I`m not mistaken. 15-14 ...first victory at Worlds !!!!!!
Second victory was yesterday against Gigolo from Ukrania ended at 15-9 in favour of Moon but the game had to end due to a tropical thunder storm and heavy rain that came with it. The weather has been absolutely hot for the last few days and the fields are amazingly good, you know like a pool table pelouzeke.
Anyway I`m sick of this qwerty keyboard and there are way more interesting things to see and do here than sit behind a compouter so I will direct you to the wucc website which is full of cool info like this for example
This newsletter website is amazing, check it out at http://wucc2010.com/disquito
There`s tons of interesting stuff to be found there including pics and game reviews and videos and clips of the day...
I will try another update in the next few days. Greetings from Czech Republic !
Dobry Djen !
The colors and shirts: amazing. Bright purple and green with Dr. Suess lettering for Poland’s Grandmaster Flash. Singapore, easily the most conservative City-State in the world, is sporting fresh blood-red, black and white “Sin City” jerseys. Kaboom’s explosive yellow jerseys and surprise run to the top of their mixed pool. Canada’s Chaos with shirts befitting the name: clawed out, etched letters in black over a stark background of madness. USA’s Troubled Past, changing their name to Czechered Past, wearing striped shirts. Storm’s electric purple lightning-storm tops difficult to track down. China CUUP’s working man’s hammer busting out.The metallic silver lettering of Tequila Boom Boom. Mexico’s musical melange mixed with the drums of Venezuela’s Yanomami creating a delight of song.
Five’s country-specific wristbands proudly sporting the flags of all 37 in attendance, traded and exchanged among each other.
Czech Republic’s great and wonderful Worlds staff, very friendly, helpful, diverse from other countries, always around.
The skies, clear and blue, kept us all in the picture.
The stadium highlight games with the live broadcasts, the roaring crowds and the exciting play.
It’s all come together so far in two days of play. Tonight another game of the day, more wristbands to be traded and Pilsner Urquell to be consumed. Tomorrow we trade shirts, pants, underwear. Worlds 2010 alive an well.
